Use any 2G/3G SIM in Surfline Ghana Alcatel Y855V

The problem most have faced is after unlocking your Surfline Ghana Alcatel Y855V, the network is stuck on 4G and there is no place to enter the APN as a result users are unable to create a profile after unlocking the device. This post is for those users who have unlocked the device, but can’t use any another network SIM card.



How to create profile in Surfline Ghana Alcatel Y855V Router?

Since there is no option to create a profile, hence we will use here a bin fine, which has configuration file included.

1. Download Alcatel Y855v router configuration bin file.

2. Connect your device to computer with USB cable and browse for 192.168.1.1

3. Login to device with password admin.

4. Go to Settings > System.

5. Under the “Configuration file management” there is a option to “Choose file”.

6. Click “Choose file” and locate the downloaded bin file.

7. Click Restore left to “Choose file”.

8. The device will restart and it will show other networks.

Surfline Ghana rolled out a 4G MiFi in 2014; the Alcatel Y855V submodel of the Alcatel Y855. It comes with a customized firmware but can be unlocked easily. Once the modem is unlocked successfully, you can use any other network provider SIM, as well as default SIM card.

Alcatel Y855V Dashboard

1. Change the default SIM card with any another network provider SIM card.Connect Alcatel Y855V with the computer using its WiFi or USB cable.


2. Connect Alcatel Y855V with the computer using its WiFi or USB cable. (192.168.1.1)


3. Login to the device with admin privilege. (admin by default)


4. Go to Connection tab.


5. Under the “Connection Status”, you will find an NCK box and message with remaining attempts to enter the unlock code.


6. Enter here correct 10-digit NCK code and click on Apply button. (Feedback: success)


Once the code is accepted, it will be unlocked forever. But there is a last step, read here.
